Volunteer Ventures MA is ramping up for a new program year beginning this month! Before we look ahead, we invite you to take a look back at our first full year of programming…and the great progress we made in building a lasting and impactful service organization:
Year in Review
Over the course of the year, we held 12 desk building events bringing together youth, parents, and grandparents in tikkun olam, repairing the world. We rejuvenated the MetroWest MLK Day of Service with MetroWest’s Jewish Learning Opportunities for Teens (JLOFT). Our amazing 120+ volunteers used our easy and safe kits to make dozens of lasagnas, 100+ banana breads, and soup kits, which went to homeless shelters in the area - as well as desks for kids who need them. We have also expanded our service program options, including the building of raised garden beds for schools and senior communities and in-house food production events to support our nonprofit partners. With our new status as an approved 501(c)(3) public charity, VVMA has begun to be awarded grants to continue the work of our fabulous volunteers.
Announcing Our 300 for 300 campaign!
In the midst of a two-day build event with Gann Academy in May, we built our 300th desk! This is a huge achievement for all our builders and a significant benchmark towards helping young students have a positive at-home learning experience.
And with our growing track record of success, we are proud to announce our 300 for 300 campaign to continue to support young students with a volunteer-built desk from Desk Mates. Our goal is to have 300 donations to help us build 300 more desks this year – 300 for 300! Donations of any size are welcome. So many hundreds of students still don’t have an adequate personal study space at home. The great need for desks continues and our volunteer builders are up for the challenge!
Donations of any size are welcome. You can donate by clicking the button above, through Venmo @VolunteerVenturesMA, or check made out to Volunteer Ventures and sent to 4 Bryant Road, Lexington, MA 02420.
Thank you for your tremendous support of Desk Mates and our work to provide a desk for every kid who needs one!
